How to Aspire to Brilliance…
To excel at anything in life, we need to excel at the basics. Every skill has its fundamentals. They can be learned by anyone. How well we master them will determine how we progress on our development.
It’s been a privilege in my life to have met some people who were, and are, accomplished in what they do. Without exception, all of those whom I would think to be skilled refer constantly to the basic principles of their craft, or profession, or art.
They are people who know the basics so well, they don’t even think about them.
When the originality we see comes into play, and the skill of the player, singer, business person, artist, tradesperson, is applied, what we’re observing is the result of practice; diligent, intelligent, regular, practice.
Usually too, what we will see is that the more talented and accomplished the player, the more they practise, learn, study and apply themselves to their craft.
Knowing the basics, honing them, developing our use of them, that allows us improvise, adapt and alter as needed.
That’s when skill rises, and expresses itself in what we see as a level of artistry.
Do the simple things well.
