Know These Imposters…
Sometimes it doesn’t do any harm to remind ourselves that life isn’t a smooth run; it’s got hills and valleys, ups a downs. We need to be aware that what’s wonderful at this moment may get skewed in the next ten minutes, but that doesn’t mean that life’s hell and we never can win.
On the contrary, it simply means that life is life and we deal with it as it comes, trying where we can to influence circumstances so that they are helpful to us. That comes from planning.
Take a decision, make a plan, act on it, and if it’s working, repeat it and reinforce it. If it’s not, change it.
But Rudyard Kipling was on the money, wasn’t he?
“If you can dream, and not make dreams your master,
If you can think, and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can deal with triumph and disaster,
And treat those two imposters just the same.”
In other words, see them for what they are; what appears to be a disaster isn’t always so.
And when things are going well, don’t lose the run of yourself.
