When you set out to achieve something, you need resilience, courage, determination, and a very clear intention.
How do you achieve those things? To have those qualities is a goal in itself, isn't it?
We make goals on a regular basis. Some we get to, some we don’t. Some don’t matter that much, some do.
When we gather our thoughts, our imagination, our faculties, we can become a formidable force in life. There are times when all of us have been amazed at what we achieved in the face of adversity. That adversity could be from without or within. But regardless of where it came from, we stood up to it, faced it, and found a way round it, through it, or over it or under it. But we came through on the other side.
What gives that force of life to anyone is a reason. People with terminal illness who find reasons to live, to delay the final outcome of their illness, frequently not only survive the diagnosed illness, but often go on to live long happy and fulfilling lives.
Any time you ever feel that you have a wish, or a dream, or some aspiration that gives you a lift, ask yourself, ‘How can I do that?’ ‘ Who do I need to be to get there?’ ‘ What needs to be done to arrive at that point?’
And then , ‘ How can I do that?’
If you find difficulty in answering any of those questions ask yourself this, “WHY do I want that?”
The answer to that question will fire the mind and blaze it into a conflagration of purpose, drive, and creative energy.
Sometimes the ‘why’ will be easily found. At other times you will need to search, rummage, explore the hinterlands of the mind to find you driving reason. Once you have it, honour it.
Take the decision then to either pursue it or drop it. Should you decide on the former, then accept your idea, believe in your aim, believe in your capability and competence to do it, and simply take the action that will bring you to it.
Because you’ve taken your decision, decided that that is what you are going to do, that you know what to do, and how to do it or to get it done, there is nothing, absolutely nothing, in the world that can stop you.
Everything from the destination, to the journey, to the route to get there, to all the elements that contribute to the arrival, have been put in place, it only remains to start taking the steps. From there on it's a process.
Know what you're seeking. Learn why. Consider them both.
Decide. Act.
Get started.
