And Not Forgetting About Our Own Jonny…
Following last week’s post about Jonny Wilkinson, a couple of responses were eloquent and forceful about Our Own Jonny, and his magnificent drop goal in Paris earlier this year.
As Mr.Wilkinson’s book was in my current reading, that was the one in mind at the time of writing.
But yes, the memory of that Brave Green Battallion, battling, inch by inch, with never a doubt, never a hesitation, up that patch of grass in France, step by heroic step, phase by bruising phase, till finally, they made their play, decided the moment, and released the ammunition to that nerveless sniper, must send a rush of emotion to every Irish heart that beats………
Our Jonny, ball in hand, ten thousand hours of practiced footwork coursing through every sinew in his form, four million green hearts willing him on, in one deft move, dropped, kicked, and annihilated the mighty foe.
David and Goliath. Twenty First Century.
